​Roy Chisholm (1926 - 2015)

Roy’s wish was for the simplest of ceremonies so there will be a private family funeral.

Some of Roy’s last mathematical studies on Clifford Algebras developed from the work of William Kingdon Clifford. Roy was in sympathy with William Clifford’s epitaph:re.

​I was not, and was conceived
I loved and did a little work;
I am not and grieve not.

Roy’s mind remained active to the end. His classical education helped him approach death, and just before he died he quoted from Euripides -

                      HECUBA: “Ah! Who art thou that will not let my body rest? Why disturb me

                                     in my anguish?”

A memorial event took place at the University of Kent, Many colleagues, friends and family attended and reminisced.

Roy died in the hospital after a short illness on Monday 10th August 2015. He was much loved and will be greatly missed.
